Beauty Favorites 2017

With each passing year, the beauty industry steps up their game and releases new products allowing makeup lovers like you and I to buy, try, and fall in love with. There was no shortage of amazing beauty products in 2017. I’ve managed to compile a list of a few of my absolute favorites from last year that I think you should know about. If you’re interested in trying any of these products for yourself, the names of each product is linked to a site where you can buy them πŸ™‚ Let’s jump into the makeup, shall we?

Dr. Brandt Pores No More Primer : this little baby kind of changed the primer game for me in 2017. I don’t have many large pores, but I like my skin to be as absolutely flawless as it can get, and with this primer targeted around my nose and the apples of my cheeks… honey, I was flawless. If you don’t believe in miracles, try the travel size here and talk to me after.

Wet N Wild Photo Focus Foundation : Wet n Wild killed it this year with their beauty releases. You’ll see another one of my favorites was a 2017 release. But this foundation is great. The brand went above and beyond to make sure this foundation would give you the best base in all conditions. Tested under 7 different conditions, with and without flash and featuring a light-adjusting complex to help prevent the dreaded white cast in photos. 24 shades. Comfortable full coverage demi matte finish. Available at all drugstores. and $5.99. This foundation is a non negotiable for me. I have 3 backups. I’m committed. If you haven’t tried this yet, what the hell are you waiting for? Buy it here, and thank me later.

Maybelline SuperStay Better Skin Concealer : I didn’t buy another concealer after trying this one and loving it the way I did. Literally. It’s full coverage, affordable, easily accessible (if you’re like me and lose everything all the time) there wasn’t really a reason for me to even bother with anything else. So I didn’t. Next year will be different. I will try, but this was a major standout in 2017 for me.

e.l.f. High Definition Undereye Setting Powder : This is one of those products I’ve been using for years, always have backups of but never remember to talk about. This ($3) setting powder is probably my all time favorite product because of the way it performs. Back in the day, Benefit’s Powderflage was my go to (shout out to you if you remember this stuff!) for setting my undereyes. And then one day I went to stockup, and the sales woman told me it had been discontinued. I cried. Not figuratively. Literally. What the hell was I supposed to do ? For years I struggled with powders being too heavy, causing white cast in photos, looking dry and cracked on top of liquid foundation until this. This teeny tiny jar of powder blurs fine lines, camouflages dark circles and refines your complexion with the smallest amount. You guys, I could write a book of poetry expressing my true love for this product.

Makeup Revolution Matte Blush : I don’t hear anyone ever really talking about this brand, but their matte blushes are a standout product from the company. The shade Fusion is my go to, but I always gravitate to this brand’s matte blushes when I get ready in the morning. The consistency is similar to the Lorac Color Source blushes, which retail at $22. These come in at a fraction of the cost at $6. Sweet right? Pick it up here

Vintage Cosmetics by Jessica Liebeskind Illuminating Face Highlighter in Rose Gold : A mouthful, but saying it’s name in entirety is almost as satisfying as the intense blinding diamond like glow you get from this stuff. Rose Gold on my Medium/Deep skin is butter. I live, breathe and die for it. Every single time.

Philosophy Purity Made Simple One Step Facial Cleanser : There’s really not much to say about this product that hasn’t been explained in the name…honestly. In one step a full face of makeup is gone with this super gentle all in one makeup remover, cleanser, toner and moisturizer. Get your face damp, squirt a quarter size amount in your hands, and rub all over. It’s literally that simple. As a tip, for heavy makeup days remove eye makeup with your favorite makeup remover, and then use purity for everything else. It makes getting unready after a long night 1million times faster.

Nivea Essentially Enriched : If you don’t moisturize your body daily, shame on you. Make an effort this year! Your skin will thank you, and you’ll be glad you did in 5years. This lotion is another non-negotiable for me. I don’t care how late, how tired, how drunk, so cold, how anything… I make sure I put this on. Light smell, non greasy and easily absorbed into the skin. This is a pretty typical lotion. But for me the glow that lasts hours after application is major. Skin looks quenched, healthy, youthful. All things we want right? Try it.

Morphe 35O2 : Okay, I love my 35O. Warm browns, soft nudes, bright shimmers, filled with matte transition colors. Then the 35O2 came along, and I knew immediately it was better. Deeper browns, more mattes, brighter shimmers, and I can’t say for sure, but even the formula of the shadows seems better. Blending is seamless and kickback from shadows is rare. This has been my new holy grail product. There’s just no end to the number of seamless natural and detailed glam looks you can get from this baby. With this relaunch of Morphe’s cult palette came a brand new addition that I love. Eyeshadow names on a thin plastic covering. Now when you create a look you love the uncertainty that I ran into with the original 35O was ‘oh, was it this burnt orange, or this burnt orange.’, has been virtually eliminated. Thank you Morphe.

Juvias Place Masquerade Palette : 16 matte, metallic, shimmers in warm neutrals and bright bold colors. This is the kind of palette every makeup lover should own. Creamy consistency. Intense color payoff. Perfect price point. If you’ve been eyeing this thing up online like I was for months before purchasing, do yourself a huge favor and commit. I swatched each shade in my instagram when I first bought this, you should check it out if you need to see it to believe it. The number of looks I can get from this palette is mindblowing. Oh, and the pans are huge. I’m really excited to see what this small beauty brand has planned for us in 2018. I have high expectations !

Eylure Luxe Lashes in Gilded : I can’t talk more positively about any drugstore lashes than Eylure’s. Truly. I’m a sucker for their lashes, and with a wide variety of styles, they probably have a lash that will make whatever look you’re trying to achieve next level. Last year they introduced this Luxe line. Faux mink lashes in black packaging with gold lettering and detailing, they could have been selling pencil top erasers and I would’ve grabbed these up, but the Gilded lashes are truly breathtaking. I wear them whenever I want to add a bit of flair. Winged liner and these lashes will cause stares. I promise. Add them to your cart and you will not be disappointed.

Wet N Wild Megalast Catsuit Liquid Lipstick in Video Vixen : I am a dark lip enthusiast. Preferably a liquid lipstick. When this liquid lip line was released last year I bought them all, after seeing the swatches on Instagram, I knew I wouldn’t be disappointed. I am obsessed with these. I have 3 or 4 of them in my purse for every occasion. They last forever, apply effortlessly, and are under $5. Are you kidding? No really, I asked. I emailed the company because I was amazed at how these perform. And this Video Vixen color is a must have. The perfect cranberry vamp merlot color. Ugh. I diiiieeeee.
