January BoxyCharm Review

This month’s boxycharm looks like another win. My favorite most highly suggested beauty/skincare subscription service for sure. If you’ve never heard of boxycharm, it’s a prestige monthly beauty subscription service. In each box you will receive 4 to 5 FULL SIZE beauty items ranging from makeup to skincare, beauty tools to color cosmetics and each box has a value of $100 and up. Small beauty brands, high end luxury lines, boxycharm does a really great job at giving subscribers a variety of products and brands to try throughout the entire year. I always have favorites that Boxycharm introduced me to month after month. Let’s get into it.

Dr. Brandt Pores No More Luminizer Primer : An pore refining illuminating primer from one of the biggest names in the skincare industry? Here are the claims from the Sephora website

“Luminizer Primer lights up your complexion with a combination of optical diffusers, illuminating crushed stardust pearls, and pore-perfecting ingredients to help refine and lessen the look of pores, providing a subtle sheen and a smoother canvas. Light-reflecting illuminators create a natural-looking luminescence, while soft-focus technology helps visibly blur imperfections—leaving skin youthful-looking and glowing. Lentil seed extract helps visibly tighten pores, strengthen pore walls, and improve skin’s texture.”

After using this 3 times I can confidently assure you it performs as the claims say. The original Pores No More primer, almost completely removes any signs of pores after applying, this does exactly the same but leave you skin with a natural luminous glow. I wasn’t expecting this product to disappoint seeing as Dr. Brandt is a well respected and trusted brand in the cosmetic game. (Retail Value $38.00)

Crown Pro Glam Metals Palette : This is a metallic queen’s dream. When I saw this swatched online I wasn’t impressed or excited. For me a palette with no matte shades is not enticing whatsoever, the purpose of a palette is to eliminate having to reach into your collection for complimentary shades, right? Well either way, this is growing on me. The shadows are beautiful on the eye, apply like butter with natural and synthetic brushes, wet or dry and the pigmentation is true to pan. Would I purchase this.. probably not because of there being no matte shades to use as a transition or definer. But that’s one of the great things about Boxycharm. The subscription box is always sending me products I wouldn’t spend my own money on, and then I wind up loving the products and actually investing in them on my own dime. (Retail Value $25.00)

IT Cosmetics Brow Power Universal Eyebrow Pencil : I’m always a bit skeptical of anything that claims to be universal. No two people are the same, and that goes the same for brows and brow products. I received the shade Taupe, but it’s more brown than anything. I wouldn’t be able to use it if it was a true taupe pencil. But this is definitely getting added into my rotation of brow products. Without a brow powder to set, I imagined this would be sheeny after a few hours and sliding off after a few more hours. It did loose it’s matte texture, but lasted all night through waitressing. It reminds me of a product I recently was introduced to actually, the NYX Precision Brow Pencil , which I adore and used up completely within a month of having it. (Retail Value $24.00)

PUR Cosmetics Bronze and Brighten Cheek Palette: I’ve used this product every day since receiving this month’s boxycharm, it’s amazing. This on-the-go blush, highlighter and bronzer palette features a new blush shade from the skin focused brand, three skin perfecting powders that leave the most beautiful sunkissed glow on the skin. Ugh, it’s so stunning. The bronzer shade is beautiful on the face and eyelid. PÜR knocked it out of the park with this palette. (Retail Value $34.00)

Girlacktik Matte Lip Paint in Demure: Did you know this brand is considered to have one of the original liquid lipsticks, because I sure as shit didn’t. Shame on me for not having tried this, and I call myself a beauty blogger. But the formula is amazing, exactly what you’d expect for a $23 lip product. Color doesn’t fade easily, I wore this though lunch and dinner with not really needing to reapply. Completely comfortable on the lips for the length of wear. I will be trying many many more of these. Liquid lipsticks are my kryptonite, so when I find a formula I like I indulge and buy 80% of the shade range. (Retail Value $23.00)
